The success of cross breeds/improved breeds of silkworm largely depends on their suitability to a parcular region and season. A study of the performance of different silkworm breeds under varied environmental conditions during 'Bhaduri' crop in Malda District of West Bengal confirms its impact on the harvest both qualitatively and also quantitatively.
A new method for detection of pebrine spore in silkworm seed production

The method for detection of pebrine spore in production of silkworm seed developed more than a century ago that saved the sericulture industry then, had been in practice in grainages on a large scale, with little modification over the period. This however had some scope for escape for the pebrine spore in the event of practice on a large scale, by rather not-so-skilled personnel. The new technique for observation of pebrine spores from empty egg shell comes with certain advantages over the traditional method. Details
Quality mulberry leaf production for bivoltine sericulture in Udumalpet area of Tamil Nadu: Strategies

Udumalpet considered rightfully a model for bivoltine silk production in the pioneering sericulture state of Tamil Nadu due to conducive agro-climatic conditions, is suffering from low rainfall, in the recent past. A holistic approach need to be taken to support the mulberry cultivation in the area. The article comes out with suggestions for measures to be taken up in maintenance of the mulberry garden and also to contain the attack from pests and diseases.
